good solution with the plastic pockets but I don't think it would work for us as we write on the print out so would have to take the paper out every time.

we also have a very nice big desk that allows us to totally unfold the tree, in the new series we work a family that the tree covers both desks, the research was done in 1 day and was 15 meters long.

I quite agree F&F, my solution is for completed work when you can view the tree in booklet format instead of a long sheet of paper (PS we don't have room for long tables in our house, chuckle).

I am about to embark on printing nearly completed projects using an A3 printer and inserting into A3 presentation folders / poly pockets (Amazon sell those around £7 a folder)

I should have added that besides filing your tree in the poly pockets you can also include photos / certificates etc for a complete presentation, don't forget to maximise your printer settings to print right up to the edge of the paper.

I have temp overcome Win7 64bit non export of PDF - I also installed FTM2011 (spit). If I want to create a PDF I export the individuals of eg a descendant tree into a separate .FTW file, then import that into FTM2011. It is a pain in the butt to rejig settings every time but once done export of the required PDF is possible, then I forget about FTM2011 until I need to export another PDF file.

This is a temp stop gap solution. In December I will be taking possession of another laptop running Vista & FTM 2006. So it will just be a case of copy the working xxxx.FTW via a memory stick and create the PDF using the backup laptop.

A lot of my problems has been single women having illegitimate children which have been registered to family related couples and not to the birth mother. I have found ways to record information on my trees, but quite frankly, to me a birth certificate is not worth the paper it is printed on.

At the risk of asking another question that has already been answered :) when is the new series. Repeats are very nice but we all look forward to the new ones.

That's OK, I'm a whiskey man.

Back to using pen and ink then.

For your working copies ever thought of printing out small white labels with data and stick on fan fold  / continuous paper or have a reusable back surface where you can easily remove labels, you can draw straight lines no doubt to link up boxes. If they don't make tractor printers it's going to be a problem in the future.

If you have kept old inkjet printers have you had them rejuvenated to use again and again, I had my Epsons serviced and used again.

How do these commercial printers fair when printing out banners ?
