Hi Rog - your Latin is quite good  ;D

Thank you for providing the info that shows that these are NOT my direct line.

My 10th Great Grand Uncle John married Alice.
His father, my 11th Great Grandfather William married Johanna Towers.

So far, I have not found any Dorothys (Dorothies???) marrying into my Berridges, though of course that is not to say that I will have along another line.

However, small bites of the elephant, as they say!

Back to the research.

Thank you, again, Rog!

Happy hunting to you!

Thanks Megan,

I have other Berridges in Leicestershire.

Can you list some early dates and names?

Rog

Thank you, Rog...

My latest Berridge is Jane (b1702) who married James Barrett (b1699) in 1722. Jane is my 7th Great Grandmother. Locale is Tur Langton.

Jane's father was Richard (b1677) m Eleanor Toone (b1682) in 1695. Richard is my 8GGF. Locale is Tur Langton.

Richard's father was Henry (b1623) m Ann Rhodlas (b1627) in 1653. I have tried tracing Ann via her very unique last name, but with no success. Henry is my 9GGF. Locale is Church Langton.

Henry's father was Richard (b1598) m c1622. Richard is my 10GGF. Locale is Tur Langton.

Richard's father was William (b1553) m Johanna Towers (b1566) in 1588. This is my 11th GGFather I mentioned earlier. He has a son John (b1589) brother to Richard. Locale is Kilworth / Claybrooke.

William's father was also William (b1523) m Elizabeth (c1527) about 1548. William is my 12GGF. Locale is Barkby.

William's father was John (bc1495) m Elizabeth (bc1499) about 1520. John was my 13GGF. Locale is Barkby.

John's father was also John (bc1461) m Elizabeth (bc1461-1465) about 1486. John was my 14GGF. Locale is Barkby.

Do any of these match your records?

Hi all

I have come across this board whilst looking for information on my ancestor Mary Berridge.

Mary married William Ashby at Medbourne in 1716 and they had four children who are:

William Ashby - born 1717 Medbourne [my ancestor]
Mary Ashby - born 1720 Medbourne
Richard Ashby - born 1720/21 Medbourne
Sarah Ashby - born 1723 Medbourne

It looks like William snr was born in Medbourne in 1701 [the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Ashby]

I believe Mary was born c1703 in Tur Langton and was the daughter of Richard born 1677. Many only trees and biographies of the Ashby family show Mary's year of birth as either 1703 or "about 1702".

If these dates are correct then William would have been about 15 when married and if she was born in 1703 then Mary would only be about 13.

Any help anyone can give on my Berridges would be very gratefully receieved.

Many thanks in advance

Matt

I can see the baptism of Mery Berridg (no -e) in Tur Langton, Jan 23 1703 (this would be 1704 using the current calendar), but what evidence do you have to suggest that this was your Mary?

I see that when she and William married, both were "of this prs" (ie Medbourne) - although I know that doesn't rule out a different place of birth.
