Wilboarclough/Macclesfield/Slack
« on: Friday 13 July 12 22:23 BST (UK) »
Is anyone able to search for James Slack born Wildboarclcough area of Macclesfield around 1824.  I have been going round in circles, and there are so many James Slacks in Macclesfield but I cant find him in Wildboarclough.  In the 1841 census there is a James & Abraham Slack which could maybe fit, but it is marked that they werent born in Cheshire.  James' marriage cert also states that his father was also called James, so that would take us back to the late 1700s.  Any help please.

Thanks to everyone with the information about James Slack.   Unfortunately I am still struggleing to find out the correct address where he was born, so I can get a birth cert and go further.

I half hoped I'd be able to find James' burial in the Macclesfield Ferrets' 'Memorial inscriptions of the Macclesfield District' but no luck. In fact, no luck there with any of his family, or with the Abraham Slack of 1841.
Is he the James Slack who died in 1898 aged 76 (Macclesfield 1898-1 8a,119) ? That might help narrow down a search for his burial either in or out of county; and if so, maybe just maybe, he's buried with his parents...?
But I'm grasping at straws, I'm afraid.

Of course you won't get a birth certificte for someone born in 1824.They are only available for post 1837 births!

Have you seen this website with loads of monumental inscriptions in various counties including Cheshire and Wildboarclough. There are several Slacks buried in several cemeteries but using the search function could not find James Slack......
