Just in case your Farrant family came from Branscome (not far from Sidbury) you could look at the Brancombe Project Website. http://www.branscombeproject.org.uk/index.html
Select Research tools and choose Parish Registers. You'll find lots of "Farrant"s born, married and buried in Branscombe.

I have the following, going forward, that might fill a hole, give explanation or maybe is already known to you.
William Cudd (Edward's older brother) moved from Birmingham to London and married Elizabeth Farrant (Mary's sister). Edward Cudd followed his older brother met Edward's sister in law, Mary and married her. 2 brothers marry 2 sisters.
While Edward and Mary Cudd were living at 131 (The Blind Shop) High Street, Willesden, they took on a lodger/worker called George Holt. After the death of Edward c1890 Mary had two sons with George Holt (cannot find a marriage cert.) George Albert Holt b. 29th April 1894 and Ernest Holt b. 1895.
George Albert Holt became a merchant seaman, landed in the port of Cardiff, found and married May Stephenson Warrender who was my grandmother who I knew well.
Ernest Holt may well have died in the 1st WW as George Albert had his war medals that were in the family but now sadly lost.
Hope this helps.
