Dear Eldon

On the CWWG site,it says church cemetery,so I`m guessing the person who added the details, didn`t know the difference between a churchyard & cemetery? It says he is buried in grave 1119.Obviously,I don`t want you spending hours looking for a needle in a haystack,so don`t worry,it was a kind offer.

Kate

Good afternoon Kate;
I realised there was a conflict with the cemetery details.
He is buried in the Church Cemetery on Dyserth Road opposite the much larger Town Cemetery run by Denbighshire County Council.
He is about 3/4qtrs along on the left and in the 3rd row back from the central path. I am afraid that is the good news.
The portland headstone has weathered badly so that it is only possible to read when very close.
Have taken digital photographs at different angles hoping that the lettering can be seen, but I am not very hopeful.
PM you tomorrow.
Regards Eldon.

If the CWGC headstone is in poor condition then report it to the CWGC who will consider what action to take.  Contact details for UK burials are:

The quality is poor for photography. Nevertheless I needed the information I had copied on paper, to make out the transcription.
What is intersting is that the nearest war headstone was of a soldier who died in 1917, was virtually new. The stone was very smooth and the inscription was very clear.

Hi Kate
I am also a relative of Arthur Parr living in Rhyl. I place a cross on his grave every remembrance sunday. I can confirm he definately has a grave. I am led to believe he was wounded and sent home for 'patching up' then sent back out to fight. Unfortunately he was torpedoed in Cardigan Bay and washed up along the shore.
I am keen to know how you are related to my great great uncle.

Hope to hear from you

Cath x

Arthur Parr is my husband's second great uncle. His Great Grandmother was Martha Hannah Parr.
Anyone looking for information on Arthur Parr. I have a photo of his headstone and I also have a picture of his name on the Rhyl War memorial.

If anyone has any information on his sister Martha Hannah Parr I would really appreciate it. I am having difficulty finding her death date and where she is buried I am figuring Rhyl as well. She was married to Joseph Evans who died in Rhyl( 38 Ernest Street) on 27 August 1927 I cannot find where he is buried either.

Any information would be great  :) Thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you.

Warmest Regards,
Michelle
