Patrick Savage (died March 1921)
« on: Tuesday 24 July 12 22:12 BST (UK) »
Would someone please be able to check the Carlisle Cemetery register for March 1921 to see if there is a burial record for:

Patrick Savage,
Age: 55
Died: Garlands Asylum, Carlisle
(Sub-district of St Cuthbert Without, Carlisle)
Date of death: 16 March 1921
Cause of death: Fatty degeneration of the heart.
Previous abode: Kinsella's Lodging House, Market Place, Whitehaven.
Informant of death: Edward Henvey (brother-in-law).

As Patrick was originally from the Whitehaven area (Whitehaven and Scilly Banks) I initially believed his mortal remains would have been returned there for interment. Yet, I have been unable to trace his burial at the two places that one would think were the most likely for his interment (i.e. Whitehaven Cemetery or St Bridget's Churchyard, Moresby).

As he died at Carlisle (Garlands Hospital) another possibility was that he was buried in Carlisle Cemetery. Hence the reason for the look-up request to see if that is where Patrick was laid to rest. If he was buried at Carlisle it would have been within a few days of 16 March 1921.

The individual records for patients at Garlands are accessible only after 100 years. So Patrick's records there, which may state what happened after his death, are not available until 2021.

Thanks very much to anyone who is able to assist with a 'look-up'.

Thanks very much for confirming the details, Clearly.

As Patrick Savage had been baptised in the Catholic faith I presume that Rev. F. Bradley was a Roman Catholic clergyman. That would explain the burial in 'unconsecrated ground'.
