Valeriec and Janey Canuck
I have been politely told off before for keeping a sideline on the same thread so I thought this was moving on and needed a new one. Sorry and thanks for linking the two together for benefit of others. I have written to 2 Hicks in Powell River, but will wait to hear from them before I try Clarkes; there are quite a few more of them and any Clarkes who are relevany may not be in Powell River at all.
re Ronald, I'm not certain about how accurate this is because the librarian who emailed me included so many typos that I was shocked - eg Minnie and Frank's address at "teh residence Kitenener Street", " vancouver", "Vancovuer"and "47th Batalion". There is a Kitchener Street in Vancouver. So s/he may have got the initials wrong. I won't be sure till I get the actual obituary.
Phillip Henry Clarke died on 1 March 1944 aged 22 and is buried in the Moro River Canadian War Cemetery in Italy. He was in the Westminster Regiment (Motor) RCIC.
