Lancashire parish registers online at Ancestry, with images

Lancashire parish registers have now gone online at Ancestry, complete with images of the original documents. I haven't checked the coverage yet - should keep me busy for a bit!

oh wow...   

You can check coverage by going to the 'browse image set' option, there you find a drop-down list of the parishes covered for each image set. then if you select a parish or church, you can see what time period is covered.

Seem to be without the Manchester area ones - which are maybe held at Manchester

Most of my lot are nearer Manchester

Do the Ancestry ones contain more than is available here?

They seem to be different in the main. So far I've only got one or two which overlap but I don't have a whole lot of Lancashire people. I've found many more for my one name study from the Lancashire opc site than I have from these new Ancestry ones.

Ancestry say they are from Lancashire Archives. I'm not familiar enough with Lancashire to know what records are where.
