Me again,

Even though this chap Joseph Conlon says his is born in Dublin I am SURE he is Margaret's brother

In 1901 he is living in York Street, which is where Margaret lived too

PLUS

There is a Margaret Walsh as godmother to one of Joseph's children

This is another of Joseph and Sarah's chidren

This is the marriage of Joseph and Sarah which gives Joseph's parents...which makes them Margaret's parents too

Thanks to "shanew147" and "taramcdsmall" for your quick and informative replies.
This search has started because my wife has asked me to find out some information on her Grandfather (who she never met) but mostly for my father-in-law who is now in his 78th year, not in good health and would like some information on his father who disappeared in 1944 when he was 10.
I have ordered his birth certificate from the information received, but is there any way of tracing his death as it highly unlikely he is still alive after 105 years.
Also I would like to find out his whereabouts in the years since 1944 (a long shot I know), I know that prior to signing up to the 11th Battalion Rifle Brigade (who were apparently Home Defence) in 1941, he was an Upholsterer and worked at Elliman's Upholsters on Camden Street, Dublin.
We have wanted to find this information for years, but until my father-in-law found an old wallet in a box in the loft with his Attestation Papers which gave us a date of birth and an address in Dublin, we had nothing to work on.
Sadly we have no photographs of him.
Once again, thank you.

Finding a death for a common name like James Walsh is not going to be easy - I think you would need a few more details on him first. The online BMD index covers up to 1958, so if he died before then he should appear on that. If so then finding the correct one is the problem...

....
in 1941, he was an Upholsterer and worked at Elliman's Upholsters on Camden Street, Dublin.
....

There's two Elliman listings on Camden street in Thom's 1938 - an M.J. at 52 Lower Camden St, and a Maurice  at 86 Lwr. Camden Street. M.J. is listed without an occupation so that doesn't appear to be a business address. No. 86 is listed as Theatre Deluxe with Maurice as manager.

In 1943 a J.M. Elliman is listed at 52 - maybe M.J. switched by mistake - or vice versa. His business is listed as Theatre and Cinema seating manufacturer, with a 2nd address at 28 Grantham St. which appears to be his residence

I think the one listed at 86 Lower Camden Street with Maurice as the manager must be the one as my father-in-law said that his dad used to work in cinemas and theatres doing the seats and curtains for shows.

I've attached copies of two cards that were found, but I cannot make head nor tail of them.
Any ideas what these would have been for?

I believe it relates to a Social Welfare, Unemployment Assistance or the Dole.
