On a Scottish birth certificate it states the parents were married 1848 Ballintemple Co Cavan

What RC church would the marriage have taken place in?

Ballintemple townland is in the civil and RC parish also named Ballintemple - but unfortunately RC baptism and marriage records only go back to about 1862 - so not far enough to include a marriage for the people you mentioned.

Thanks Shane

Would you know the name of the RC church for that era?

It's quite likely that the church is much older than the existing records.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

According to Lewis (1837) there were three RC churches in the parish - probably two chapels of ease and the parish church itself.

The OSI maps from about 1890 shows an RC church in the parish at the townland of Ballinagh named St. Fedlim's and at the same location the now seems to be a modern church, dedicated to St. Mary. There is also a church named St Patrick's nearby - but the name may not have been been the same back in 1848, as a church can be rededicated after renovations etc.

The earlier OSI maps (c1837) show a chapel at the same location as St. Fedlim's/St. Mary's, but it's unnamed.
