marriage certificate
« on: Tuesday 31 July 12 15:48 BST (UK) »
I am confused not unusual I have to say, a friend lent me her membership to A, to look for a marriage certificate for my G aunt,my friend said you could look at the image and see the brides Father's name.I have had a look at a marriage on the screen in St Asaph 1916 but can see no Fathers name.

Now I would have just accepted this but last week I had some help on Roots for a marrage in London and the person who helped me knew the grooms fathers name and occupation this marriage was in 1879.
Am I doing something wrong.
Thank you

Hi, are you sure you  mean Anc* and not F M P.

I also have my grandparents marriage certificate from 1903, there is no fathers name for my Grandmother.
I did find her mother, and when I got the birth  certificate, - no father named, she was illegitimate
This may be the reason,

Hello, thanks for replying, my pal's membership is for A, I think I should have just asked if you can see the brides Fathers name on line, without buying the certificate.
Regards Val
ps my mums birth certificate also shows no Fathers name they knew the father but she was not married in 1920 hence no Fathers name .

Have  you got the names of the couple.
If you try a search on http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk/  it will tell you which church they married at, if it was in a Church you can look at the parish registers for free.
If it was a  Civil Marriage, then it was in a Chapel or a Register Office and you have to buy the certificate.
I am on Anc, and have never found an actual parish register  image for a marriage in North Wales.  ???

Have you got her with Daniel in any census, I can`t find a match with year and place of birth.

It may help to narrow the search down if there is an occupation for her father.

I have her 1901 working at a public house called Market Vaults from memory think Mary Owen was the owner, have her in 1911 working at a butchers,I know she married and went to Patagonia, but such a common name and no husband name, don't worry, i have been looking for her a long while.

So just to be sure unless I hold the certificate in my hand there is no way on any site I can see the brides father?
Thank you for your trouble and time  :)
