Walter Jennings & Harriet Hinde
« on: Wednesday 01 August 12 05:25 BST (UK) »
sometime ago Pavane posted that she was related to walter, who was my grgrandfather.  He was born in Heathfield, Somerset and in 1871 lived in monknash as a farm servant to Daniel Thomas.   He had several children with Harriet Hind(e), whose father was Henry.  I am trying to find where Harriet lived, I understand she was a barmaid, but which pub?   By 1881 they were in Llandaff, but I am trying to find where they were for the 10 years in between, where and when they married.
Family lore has it that Harriet had a brother who was a gamekeeper and he was 'done in' by getting pushed over cliff near southerndown.
Thank you for the help.   I was just in Wales too, but my focus was my Mum rather than genealogy!

I'm new to this format, so am having difficulty in responding...thank you to Joburg and also Sandymc for finding their marriage.   Now I know that only one child was pre-marriage.   I can't find Harriet on 1871 census as Harriet Hinde, the year she had her first child at a very young age.   She wasn't with her parents and siblings.
Is there any way to find where Walter and Harriet Jennings lived between 1874 and 1881?
Any help is appreciated!  Thank you so much.

hi, i see that several trees on another site have her name as harriet haynes
could this be why you haven't found her in the 1871 census

Thanks, Doran, I got all excited when I saw your suggestion, as my own mother called her Harriet Hines.....but I just checked and still can't find her!    I don't know what 'other sites' you refer to that show Harriet Haynes with this family.    I am not finding anything on familysearch.org, and don't have a membership to ancestry.
