Photo programmes - free?
« on: Wednesday 01 August 12 21:51 BST (UK) »
During a PC problem I have lost the free version of a photo programme which I got free with a magazine some years back, which matched my needs.
Any suggestions for a free equivalent to download?

Have a look at this one, Ainslie  :

You don't even have to download it.

Kind regards,

Also, here's another one which seems to be popular :

I was surprised when I read about the problems between Gimp and Windows, mentioned on the link I sent you. Might be best to give that one a miss until any issues are sorted out.

Also consider IrfanView and Paint.Net (the latter needs MS .NET framework to be installed, but it's included in newer versions of Windows).

These are quite different to work with, and as each has its own strengths I use both from time to time. With IrfanView I find its capabilities are vastly improved by installing the optional plug-ins as well; they come as a single package but install very quickly and easily. I think Paint.Net has plug-ins too, but I haven't used them, and I've a feeling they might be ones where you install just the ones you want, rather than all of them.

Thank you for those.  I shall have a go later when the shower of gold medals has died down.
