Wedding of Maria Thomas
« on: Friday 03 August 12 20:05 BST (UK) »
Hi there. Can someone help me find the wedding of Maria Thomas, she was born in St.Ishmael, Carmarthenshire and I know from looking at her gravestone she married a Davies, but what I can gather she's been buried in the family grave without her husband.  Her date of birth is 1884 and death date 1959. I can see in 1911 she was still single and living in Tycanol Ferryside I had no idea if they had children or not.

Also, I am looking for her mother and fathers wedding... Mary Thomas (no idea her maiden name) and David Thomas, David was born in St. Peter's Carmarthenshire (1855) and his wife Mary Thomas 1849 in St Ishmael. All I can gather from the census that they were quite late in life getting children and both were farmers. In 1901 I knew both lived in Roberts Rest farm, St Ishmael.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi

Is  this a sister of the Mary Thomas who married John Evans Davies in 1920?

I think that is the wrong Maria

This looks like  her in 1901:

Rhos y dderwen, St Ishmael
RG13/5110/105/28

Elleanor Enoch, 27, kept by relatives (ill), b. st Ishmael
Maria Thomas, niece, 17,  farmer's daughter b. St Ishmael

Next household is headed by Maria's father, David, at Robert's Rest Farm

An easy mistake to make - I helped with the other thread so have got used to them and as she was next door it seemed most likely  :)

Nearest marriage that I can find is Dec q. 1928, Carmarthen, 11a, 2279

Maria Thomas and Thomas Davies.

Can't see anything in the parish records so this is only a possible  :-\

Thanks very much. I shall order a certificate to see if it's the right one!!! I decided to go to Ferryside cemetery and found the gravestone for some of the family.
