I’ve taken all the info I can so far but struggling on Howard’s parents as I’ve got his dad as either Howard or Benjamin but found a Benjamin Howard Winstone, so not sure if it’s just that person but went by the name Howard, and then his mum I’ve got either Katy Quinn or Kathleen donohuge, can anyone help with this ?

Hi David

I wrote the first post in this topic because I would be very interested to know whether there is a connection between the Merthyr Tydfil Winstone family and my ancestors who lived in Eastcombe near Stroud.

My ancestor Charles WINSTONE was born in 1828 and was a mason/builder along with his brother Lot WINSTONE.  His grandsons moved to the South Wales valleys in the 1900s.  And other than the prosperity connected to coal etc in the area, I wonder whether there were relatives living here too.

I note from Free BMD that there were WINSTONEs' births registered in Merthyr Tydfil in 1837 onwards.  So if there is a connection, it goes back further than that.

So I'd be really interested to hear if you do find a connection with the Stroud area.

All the best with your research.
