This document at the National Archives "Reports on visits of inspection to prisoner of war camps in the UK" mentions Bidston prisoner of war camp, Cheshire April and May 1919.

Thanks Colin, so it looks like in 1919 there is just the 1 camp on the Wirral, and that there was not that many German POW's there  :)

Thank you for this thread, some great information. I’m helping a friend and looking for very similar information re WW1 Camps and POW Camps. Specifically for German Officers on The Wirral 1914-1919 and this thread is helpful and fascinating.
Dynan, McNamara, with potentially O’Dea, Casey, Mahoney, O’Neill and other historic Irish, likely Co Clare surname connections.
