Farmanby Close, Thornton-Le-Dale seems to fit that description from Pickering of ESE and 2 miles. Could the housing estate have taken over the village?

Hi

Kevin

Thanks Kevin , Link suggests not sure where it was exactly . Its very strange that a village / Hamlet  recorded in the Census 1861 as having quite a few families living there come vanish without trace.

Nick

Hi, above link supplied by Kevin would suggest Farmanby was a little north of Ellerburn . Still very confused .

Hi,

"FARMANBY, a township in the parishes of Ellerburn and Thornton Dale, wapentake and liberty of Pickering Lythe; 2 miles ESE. of Pickering. Pop. 403."

Taken from :

Also, this might explain what happened to it :

Kind regards,

Pels.

Farmanby is located to the south of Thornton Dale where the street named West Gate is.
