I'm not certain if, or how this may help, but some early ancestors of mine had the family name "Hocking". However, and presumably as a result of illiteracy, the name effectively changed to "Hawkin".

Just something to consider if you hit any walls with this name.

Thanks, Stewart.  I have not yet come across that version in my tree, but it's good knowing that there's a possibility.  I appreciate the heads-up.
