Sarah and Robert Smiths marriages in Rampisham
« on: Monday 13 August 12 20:00 BST (UK) »
I have two marriages on my tree: 1) Robert Smith to my GGG Grandaunt Elizabeth Legge on 8 Jan 1812, in Rampisham, Dorset 2) Sarah Smith to Henry Legge my GGG Grandfather on 2 Feb 1819 also at Rampisham. I know that Elizabeth and Henry are brother and sister, but would like to know if Robert and Sarah are and if they are, their parents and siblings. I picked up the marriages from Family Search and have tried the Dorset OPC for Rampisham, but could not find anything on them, including the marriages. I am fairly sure, that Robert Smith and Henry Legge, subsequentally became business partners at Broughton Mill, near Winchester, a venture which, I believe failed due to Roberts death.

Any input to my problem, would be much appreciated.

Bill

Hi,

An online transcription of the register gives her surname as Legg and her parish as Beaminster.

Hi again,

Possible baptism for Sarah:

Sarah Smith, daughter of John and Elizabeth,  23 May 1790 at Beaminster.

Hi,

An online transcription of the register gives her surname as Legg and her parish as Beaminster.

Hi Nanny Jan. I am not sure what the quote tells me. If it relates to the Leggs, I already know that, as they are my direct line. It is the Smiths that I am interested in. Your second post is encouraging but I need to link it with Roberts birth details, which I will try to do tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.

Bill

Hi,

Oops... yes it refers to Elizabeth and, as you had been searching Rampisham records, I thought you were unaware that Elizabeth's parish was Beaminster.
