Melksham Monumental Inscriptions - Completed thank you
« on: Thursday 16 August 12 11:56 BST (UK) »
Hi

On Wiltshire's MI index for Melksham there are two William Crook's both sharing a grave with an Elizabeth Crook.  Is there anyone who is able to give me more information on the inscriptions from these two graves. I am really after when the two Williams were born.

Many thanks
Rosie

Hi Rosie,

Not sure if this helps:

Elizabeth Crook, aged 26, died 31 January 1805; wife of William jnr.   Ref no.  27663

William Cook, aged 68, 3 May 1806;  husband of Ann.   Same ref no.

Same ref no. but no dates;  William husband of Elizabeth.

Same ref no. William Crook, aged 58, 29 December 1835.

Hi Nanny jan

Many thanks for looking those up for me.  :)

I think that I have finally sorted it out after an hour or so trying.  ;D
I was trying to work out who the two entries were but I think I have now cracked it.  William Snr was married to Ann not Elizabeth, the latter is mentioned as she is William jnrs wife.  ;D   F*P have some of the family with 3 different reference numbers where they are probably mentioned on another grave, not good if you are buying credits.

Thank you

Rosie

Hi Rosie,

Would the Wiltshire FHS be able to find some more details for you?

Hi Nanny Jan

I had thought about contacting the Wiltshire FHS.  I did look at their web page to see what they had for Melksham but I am hoping to go down that way soon so maybe a visit to the graveyard would be nicer if I can talk the family into it.   ;)
