Hi KHP   .... thanks.   :)

Sounds very promising - Kurow not too distant from Waimate (and age 50 not far off the "age 48" for the 1905 chap.)

Will go look for the the web address for Kurow burial info (don't think their cemetery records are available online. )

Cheers   ~  Lu

I checked the Kiwi Index, but nothing ..... but that one does look promising.

Hello and many thanks to everybody who has replied to my post.

Looking through all the replies it looks as though Alexander Craib who married Emily Louisa Lawson was the Son of George & Elizabeth and as far as I can see not related to "my" Craibs. Craib is a reasonably common name in that NE part of Scotland.

The Alexander Craib who appears in the 1896 Electoral Roll looks very promising especially as in 1871 alexander was in the census as a "Pupil Teacher".

So with that in mind I think, at least for the time being, I need to concentrate on that Alexander and put Alexander Son of George & Elizabeth onto one side.

I will look into his death and burial at Kurow Cemetery and see if any more is to be found.
