Thanks Radcliff.

I saw that death but wonderered if it was a bit too early as Jas wasn't baptised until the following August.

There is a death registered in Manchester, Market Street district in 1837 for a Robert Howarth aged 38 so I wondered if that could be him.

Yes the date is before their baptisms ,but both children were baptised within months of each other

if Susanah wanted parish releif ,I would have thought her children would have to be baptised,so if they were born before he died and she hadnt got around to do soing ,she would have had to go out and have them both done

Not wishing to blacken your ancestors name, her children may have even been born out of wedlock,

the only mariage any where near to  Susanah Sudworth is this on

24th September 1827
St Mary Oldham
Robert Howarth,weaver of CROMPTON
Susanah Shuttleworth ,spinser of CROMPTON
witness to marriage Thomas Jackson and Jonathon Jackson,
married by banns with the consent of both parties,

did you say one child was born Crompton
Gunning County Down,Kneale Isle of Man,Riddle Tynemouth,Bibby Kendal/Bradford,Colenso Penzance/Barrow-in-Furness,Steele Corney Fell,Chapman Ely,Dawes Alfreton,Blamire Westmoreland and Ulverston

Hi

Thanks again.

William was born in Crompton - perhaps Susannah  was a Shuttleworth.
On her marriage certificate her father is given as William Sudworth and we always wondered where the name for her son Sudworth came from.

Edward,Thomas and Sarah Yates were all born before Susannah married William Yates!
