Help finding Great Grandfather's death
« on: Wednesday 22 August 12 16:13 BST (UK) »

Dear All,

As the title suggests I have been trying to find a record of my great grandfathers death and I have got nowhere! I have posted on here in the past and have had some great results so I thought I would see if anyone could help with this one?!!
His name was George French born 13th October 1883 in Oldbury, Worcester. He married My great grandmother Annie Baker on the 12th November 1924 in Southwark London. They had two children, Nancy born in 1926 and my grandmother Joan born in 1928. I have since discovered that Annie baker remarried a few times (this was her second marriage) and she remarried again on 25 July 1929.
Seeing as my grandmother was born in 1928 and his wife remarried in 1929 I did a rough search between 1927 and 1929 and none of the results seem to fit George French! He would have been in his mid 40's around that time and none of the ages match! As far as i'm aware they didn't divorce.
I have been told by uncles that he committed suicide and that he was a chef in a luxury London hotel but apart from that I know nothing! My grandmother was put into an orphanage at an early age and was very vocal about me looking up the family history so I never did much of her side until she passed away. Unfortunately I have no living relatives that can shed any light on this. I hope someone can help!!

Hi

He married My great grandmother Annie Baker on the 12th November 1924 in Southwark London.

She married him as Annie Wilkins.

George was 41 in 1924 so was he previously married as well?

Yes that's correct she was a widower when she married. I have just looked at their marriage certificate and it states George as a bachelor!

Hi there,

Have you tried looking up newspapers from that period to see if his death was featured.

Also, it might have been a coroner who registered the death.

Tara
