In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Well that's good for me if Rastrick George was still alive in 1861 - the 1856 death could still be my George  :D

Loose connection but I have a feeling his brothers widow/son moved to that area when she remarried *
Will check my notes but her name was Mary Bradbury.

* Nope wasn't till the 1870's they were living in Brighouse.

Do you think this is the correct BMD entry for the 1856 George if I were to order the certificate?

Dec 1856 George Hinchliffe
Halifax 9a 225
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos

The death registration in Halifax District is probably the George Hinchliffe buried at St Mathew, Rastrick on 21 December 1856, aged 20.

There is another burial at All Saints, Silkstone of George Hinchliffe on 26 October 1856, but he is an infant of Silkstone.  And that is possibly the entry in Huddersfield Registration District in the December quarter of 1856 as George Hinchliff.

Thank you I might just take a chance on the Halifax one then.  Just hope the informant is someone in the family or I will be none the wiser  :D

His mother was still alive then and appears on several of her children's certificates so fingers crossed.

Millie

Study well before paying out on GRO certificates and double check before buying (As they say in the building trade-Measure twice and cut once). Its best to buy Certificates from local register offices, as they ask you questions and discuss the issue! from records info infront of them before you buy to try and make sure its the right certificate.
