Directory entries for blacksmiths?
« on: Saturday 25 August 12 01:34 BST (UK) »
Several records give the occupation of members of the Hynes family of Ballymurry, Ballyloughloe, Westmeath as blacksmith.  I realize that  every place needed a blacksmith.  However, does anyone know if any of the directories such as Slaters would have an entry for such a small place and common occupation?  Thank you.

you didn't mention a timeframe.. but in general National directories like Slater's included details from major towns and the immediately surrounding area, and the later directories usually included more detailed listings.

As far as I can see Ballymurry is about 12km east of Athlone, so possibly a little to far outside the town to be included.
