Died during the war but not recorded?
« on: Sunday 26 August 12 13:30 BST (UK) »
Hi all.

I've been told that ancestor born in 1935 died during the war, but when I search all War records there is nothing with his name, his initials or anything like his name listed on the sites.

Would soliders missing in action be listed as dead? What other reasons would there be for this information to be missing?

What is his name, date of birth and place of birth?

I'm not very good at sums, but if he was born in 1935 and died during the War (presumably WW2?), then surely he would have been far too young to have been in the forces? Wiki tells me these are the dates for WW2: 1 September 1939 – 2 September 1945 ...  :-\

Which war do you mean? The CWGC site covers only deaths related to the two world wars and as you mention "soldiers" and "born in 1935" I'm guessing he'd have served in a different war?

If he died during WW2, may he have been a civilian casualty?

Why not tell us the name. And yes, you have to look in the right place and for that you need to establish which war.

Name interests: Boulton, Murrell, Lock, Croxton, Skinner, Blewett, Tonkin, Trathen.
