Clarification on the name of a district in Hereford
« on: Tuesday 05 January 10 21:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I wonder if anyone could clarify something for me.  I thought I might do a bit of "digging" on my 3x great-grandfather a Charles Morgan - and although he seems to have spent a goodly part of his life & raised his family in Radnorshire he appears to be listed on the 1851 as being born in "Tiverton, Hereford".  Now I've never heard of a Tiverton in Hereford..I was just wondering if there is a district called "Tibberton".  If not is there anything similar?
Thx  :)

I think you're probably correct as the old fashioned 'b' can be mistaken for a 'v'

Hi all
I have been looking at Google Earth to try and place TIBERTON however there seems to be two possibilities - one is in Worcestershire and the other was marked as Tiberton, Madely, Hereford.  Could anyone perhaps direct me better? Have the local boundaries changed over the years?   I guess I am hopeful of pinpointing a local parish church etc. to try and find out more about Charles and his parentage etc.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply & link.  I have been checking the various websites available - and I'm 90% certain it is the Tiberton (or Tyberton) near Madley that my ancestor "hails" from.

Hi...I am new to this help line and was wondering if anyone could help with a contact.
I was, yesterday, looking for the town of Tibberton supposed to be in HEF when I noticed someone else had asked the same question in January. (California dreamin) He mentioned his ancestor Charles Morgan. I have the marriage for him plus 9 children, plus info on his son John.
I could see no e-mail address for California dreamin.
Perhaps someone could pass on my address to him?
It is    (*)
I prefer to use my e-mail rather than the website for this one.
Thanks so much.
