It seems James and Ellen Mills had one son. JAMES
He died 1901
JAMES MILLS FATHER JAMES MOTHER ELLEN AT BROKEN HILL REF # 4744/1901

and I would be guessing but  ??? There is a death of a James Mills aged 58 years in Goulburn in 1866. Ref # 4259/1866

There is a 1863 birth in Braidwood for a Gabriel Barthelemy, parents listed as Pierre and Maria
Peter Barthelemy of France naturalised in NSW in 1861.
There is a possible death for him in Braidwood as Peter Bathelemy in 1867 - aged 33.

However I'm not sure if this is the same person as Mary Ann Hare as this newspaper record suggests this woman was actually nee O'Hehir and had siblings in NSW.  (On the NSW index this man's name is indexed as OHeire)
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/13483024?searchTerm=Barthelemy%20Braidwood&searchLimits=

There is also a Mary Ann Hare/Mary Hare recorded on Trove in 1855 (she had an illegitimate child who died soon after birth while in the care of a nurse).

Hi Jorose, that line of Barthelemyopens up a whole new line of enquiry.

Turning Pierre and Maria into English is Peter and Mary :o It would dpend who was the informant on the certificates.

There are even more of them and Gabriel marries in 1893. It would seem the names have been corrupted into several variations.

It is a little TOO coincidental in Braidwood 1860's

Thanks so much for all the info.  I may have got my dates a bit out.
Ancestor John Hall (soldier) married Ellen Hare in Quebec Canada in 1858. Other Information I have says they came from Australia/Ireland. I was assuming Ellen Hare may have been convict, and John Hall at a garrison in New South Wales.  However she must have been born around 1839, so the Ellen Hare on the convict ship is a bit too old.  It could be that her daughter who was on the ship with her (aged 4) could also have been called Ellen? and would be of the right age to marry in 1858.  I have great difficutly in finding any info on Ellen Hare anywhere i.e. Ireland /England etc.

My great grandmother Mary Anne O'Hare Barthelemy of Braidwood is in no way related to the Ellen O'Hare of the original post.   In fact she came from County Clare in Ireland - a very different part of the country and was a free emigrant.  Neither she nor her family, her husband, son or daughter have any connection with Ellen O'Hare.

Hi and Welcome to Rootschat Mary Angela  ;D

I believe the Barthelemy connection was already dismissed as co-incidental and not connected to the Ellen O'Hare from the original poster.

Your family line is written up extensively on Monaro Pioneers Index if my memory serves me, without going into it again. It was just a possible. ::)
