William, although age doesn't match with the 1841 census, perhaps the enumerator got a bit carried away with rounding down ages

hi, as  osprey has given you  his baptism the church where he was christened is st catwgs cadoxton  about a mile or so away as the church in neath abbey, st john 's wasn't established until 1850

    Excellent!  Thank you all!  I would like to keep going further if you would be so kind?  Is it possible to locate DOB/DOD records of David's father and David's father's father, etc. (David = Basset's father), if possible, please.  And, yes, we (my Aunt) wants to prove/disprove whether we are decendants of William Thomas, father of Ann (1704-1727), "The Maid of CEFN YDFA”....

without a birthplace for David, we'd be guessing at his baptism. The 1841 census tells us he was born in county and no more.
