I am researching the family of Isabella Templeton born circa 1805 (probably in Ireland), who married Hugh Murdoch 31 Jan 1828 in Leswalt, Wigtown.

Any chance this is the same family?

Many thanks, Eileen

Hi James,

Thank you for your post.  My Ayrshire links are in Leswalt, Stranraer, Girvan, Colmonell (Liglartrie, Dounepark), and Inch.

All that I have on Isabella Templeton is that she was from Ireland.

I have Isabella Templeton marrying Hugh Murdoch on 31 Jan 1828 in Leswalt, Wigtown.  Hugh Murdoch's parents were John Murdoch and Janet Aitken who married on 05 Dec 1795 in Stranraer.

Children of Hugh Murdoch and Isabella Templeton that I know of are:
Janet b 15 Mar 1829
Hugh b 13 Jul 1831
James b circa 1834
John b 02 Sep 1836
Isabella b 21 Jul 1841
Agnes b circa 1845
William b circa 1848

1841 census living in Leswalt:

It shows Hugh 45, and Isabella 35 (born Ireland), Hugh 10,  James 7,  John 5
Hugh listed as farmer.

Thanks, Eileen

Hi James,
One of my ancestors was Margaret Templeton born June 30, 1811 in Kilmarnock: married William Woodburn July 5, 1833; died at Dalry Oct 29, 1880. I did not record the names of her parents. Apparently I did not check - many years ago However, I just now visited another web site from which it appears "my" Margaret Templeton's parent's were David Templeton and Margaret Bicket

Iamcn:

Thank you for your post, but since my James was born in 1834, and your John was born in 1795, it would make them have almost 40yrs difference in age.  I believe my James' brother was born in 1836.

Could your John have been a sibling to Isabella perhaps?  The age would fit better.

Thanks,
Eileen
