Bridgnorth Baptism
« on: Sunday 02 September 12 19:19 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

I have a James SWINNERTON born 16 Aug 1809 Quatford, Salop.
Need to find his Baptism to prove his parentage.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Regards
bswinno.

Hi Brian,

To be fair to other Listers, I believe you should state the source of your information about the birth on 16 Aug 1809.

You know that I've already checked the only available transcript of Quatford Christenings at Shropshire Archives for you.
Amongst the many Christening I found and posted on your other thread, the nearest match was the Christening on 8 Sept 1811 at Quatford where Sarah SWINNERTON was listed as the mother.
That confirmed the information on Family Search.

Hello Gwynne,

The date of birth for James born 1809 is given on his funeral card.

I did think about that Christening at Quatford Sep 1811.
Son of Sarah SWINNERTON. So it looks like this James
was born out of wedlock.

But James born 1809 at the time of his wedding gave his father as
Thomas SWINNERTON. That is why I am looking for possible
Christening to prove parentage.

Of course it is always possible that James born 1809  had a father
Thomas bit not a SWINNERTON.

As always interesting.
Brian.
