St Helier Selwood, Rowe,West

In the 1841 census James Selwood and William Henry Rowe are living at the same address and are both Maltsters. There is also an Ann West living in St Helier.
In the 1851 census there is a family
James Selwood dob 1807
Mary Selwood dob 1821
Elizabeth Selwood dob 1848
William Rowe dob 1841 (stepson)
What I think happened is that William Henry Rowe married Mary Ann West (shown as Ann in 1841) he died and Mary then married James Selwood.
I am looking for evidence that supports this. Marriage records would be great.

there was a George Henry Rowe-buckingham in Alderney of which i'm descended, we had one branch of the family that dropped the buckingham (matthew Rowe)  could be related?

Thank you for your reply. You may be right about the Rowe families but I would like to find some evidence to support my theory but I am not sure how to access the necessary records.

I'll have a look in the marriage indexes next week. Civil registration did not begin until 1842 so the possible first marriage will be in the parish records
