Do you have this marriage certificate - does it confirm that Williams father is John.

At the moment I can only see a William Robson bn c 1850 Corbridge with parents William and Elizabeth.   :-\

I agree with Rosie ...
William Robson born 1849 in Corbridge
parents William and Elizabeth

the only one I could find with John as parent
William Robson christened 17th November 1850 at St Peter and Allenheads Chapelries,Allendale ,Northumberland
parents John Robson and Jane

I will see how far Allendale is to Corbridge

added...it is only 8 miles away ...so if the family church was in Allendale - it`s possible the parents went from Corbridge to Allendale for the christening ......so now you have a little problem as to who is Williams father ??....William or John...I think the only way to find out is to buy the birth certificate

Willrob, I think you are making the classic mistake of doing your family research by copying other people's family trees.  You say you are confused because some names in other people's trees match your tree while others do not.  Obviously some of the trees are in error and the only way you can be sure is to go to the original reference, i.e. birth certificate, parish register etc. Other peoples family trees are invaluable as find aids but always treat them with suspicion and recheck the information they provide.
So many people, in their haste to get further back into their family history, make assumptions and assumptions are not facts.  However they present these assumptions as fact and that is where the danger lies.

I am now confused
on www.familysearch.org we have the marriage in 1881
at Staley,Northumberland
William Robson b 1856 father LIONEL ROBSON
to Margaret Robson

so ...could you have your records mixed up here ??
was it Margaret Robson born 1850 - father John Robson
and
William Robson b 1856 ......you have William b 1850 and Margaret b 1856 ( the other way around )

do you see where I am coming from ??

is this a possible ?
William Robson b 1857 Hexham ,Northumberland - parents Lionel and Margaret ( Hexham is 4 miles away from Corbridge according to Wiki

Hi wilrob
I have merged two of your posts and locked the third.  Once you have been with us a little longer you will realise that duplicate posts cause confusion.  You seem to be getting lots of help so that is good.
