Old Army regiments

Hi all bit of a big ask i expect but my 6x Grt Grandfathers Army record arrived today showing what regiments he fought with im wondering if someone in the Know might be able to please tell me where these regiments fought and against who?

Born Drum Roscommon Ireland
Discharged aged 59 after 39 years service between 1779 and 1814
served in these regiments
8TH FOOT
34TH FOOT
74TH FOOT
Then it says invalids or Supernumeracy invalids?
2ND ROYAL VETERANS BATTALION
Any help at all would be really really Appreciated

Can you break it down for us which years he served in which regiment? It would simplify the answer...

Unfortunately the info i have is as ive given sorry nightmare i know all i can say is he must of started in the 8th in 1779 and been in the rest between then and finnally ending up ion the 2ND Royal veterans around 1814 not much help im afraid at the most if its all i can find out is where the regiments fought or who against i can at least think he may of been there?

74th Foot = Highlanders 2nd Batt The Highland Light Infantry

Gees Neil thanks for all that and thank you for taking the time out looks like Owen must of seen a bit of action in his 39 years!!especially as he served with the 74th and ended up in the 2nd Royal veterans as well.Im now wondering if theres a way of finding which campaigns he was in whilst with these regiments obviously he cant of been in all of these Campaigns? must say thank you also to Salty to for telling me the regiments thats something else for me to look up im now wondering who hed of fought whilst part of Highlanders 2nd Batt?maybe he joined up in Liverpool originally when he had sailed from Ireland i wonder?

The answer to that is first of all to know which years he served in which regiment.
You say the information comes from his army records and I can't believe the information isn't there.
