Hi Boo,

I think we can say 'bingo' on this occasion - twice!

Here are your marriages

21 October 1848

Matthew Anderson of full age, bachelor, Smith, living at New Road,
father John Anderson Decd., Slater
Mary Gray of full age, spinster, living at New Road,
father William Gray Decd., Miner

Witnesses - John Bean (could be Blan) his mark and Jas Pearson (seems to be a regular witness)

24 November 1862

Matthew Anderson aged 39, widower, Blacksmith of Gibson St., father as above
Margaret Collingwood aged 33, spinster of Gibson St., father John Collingwood Decd., Joiner

Witnesses - Thomas Inglis (written it looks like Jnglis) and James Wilson

Hi Christine

Don't know about saying bingo! Whoopeee!! is more appropriate :-) Thank you so much for doing the look up for me, its very much appreciated.

I need to check and verify the death of Mary Anderson and then I think I will be happy enough to move these people from the 'looks likely' folder to the 'as sure as I can be' folder :-)

Matthew was originally from Wallington, Harburn Parish, Northumberland and luckily the BTs for Hartburn are on the Family Search site. I have a bulging folder of 'looks likely' for the line going back another 3 or 4 generations :-)

Thanks again, it really is kind of you to do these look ups.

Boo

Any time - I'm there often enough  ;D

The good thing about Hartburn records is that they tend to tell you which village people lived in which can narrow things down a bit.  The downside is that if you start looking mid to early 18th century then the records are all over the place and I'm not sure whether that's the records themselves or the way they've been microfilmed.  Church warden's accounts appear in the middle of baptisms etc.

I was looking for something in them yesterday - for the umpteenth time and once again gave up  :-\
