Unusual place name Herefordshire Hayrip!!!
« on: Friday 27 May 05 10:24 BST (UK) »
I need some help from local Herefordians
I have found of a birthplace on the 1861 census return which I cannot find on any maps or google search.  It looks like Hayrip
would have been North Herefordshire near the
Worcestershire border as she married a John Jones from Acton Beauchamp and had her first child in Lulsley, Worcestershire in 1841.  Which makes me think she would not have moved far from this area.

Does anyone know of this place or somewhere sounding like it?

Hi
Near Beguldy there is a place called Heyop.
Do you have Elizabeth's maiden name?

I think the Radnorshire place name is likely to be it. As it fits with the Radnorshire on the censuses.  Her name was SPENCER before her marriage. ?? First child was born in 1840/1 so would assume she came away from Radnorshire before 1841 census   Do you have earlier info on the SPENCERS

Hi - According to Oldmaps UK there is an address in Eardisley called "The Harps" and it is in the north of the county above Hay.  Fred
