baptisms at the Rathdown Union Parish
« on: Thursday 20 September 12 16:35 BST (UK) »
I have come across a few baptisms of children which gives Rathdown Union as the Parish. The baptisms are for Roman Catholic children but on the baptismal record there are no sponsors recorded.
Do you think this means the mother was ill during her confinements and from lack of funds was actually at the workhouse? Or could the babies have been ill and brought there shortly after birth and baptized in extremis which would explain there were no sponsors?
