Alice Horton of Dothill

Hi Everyone,
My lady was born abt 1400 (Histfam) married William Steventon. Alice's father was Robert / Richard / mystry.
It's the name of Alice's grandfather that I am after. There is so much conflicting info I just cant get anywhere.

Hi there

I can't offer much help but I assume you have seen the article about the Hortons from Dothill on www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=18141

This suggests Alice's father was Richard not Robert, Richard was collecting taxes in 1419 and 1440, prior to that a John Horton of Dothill was collecting taxes in 1383 (if Alice was born c1400 John could  be her grandfather }, the only other Horton record prior to John was for Philip who appears to have held the manor  by marriage to Isabel de Praeres............   but you have probably already read this!
