William Dinsdale born 1755
« on: Sunday 23 September 12 18:58 BST (UK) »
William Dinsdale was born in Snaizeholme in about 1755 and died in about 1813. I have information which shows that he married an Ann. Does anybody know her surname or when they were married or what kind of job he did ? One of their children ( Alexander Dinsdale ) was my gt-gt-gt grandfather. William's father is shown as Edmund. Does anybody have any details of his date of birth or marriage?

When you say born 'about' 1755, I wonder if this could be his baptism :

Christening : 23rd March 1755
William Dinsdale
Father :Edmund Dinsdale
Hawes, Yorkshire

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/NRY/Aysgarth/index.html

Hawes and Snaizeholme are both in the Parish of Aysgarth.

Kind regards,

Pels.

Hi,
I have a John Dinsdale, 1779-1855, he is my 5th great grandfather. I have been unable to get further back and wonder if he was a brother of your relative ? I have his father's marrying a Betty Blythe,  but this information is sketchy. My 5th GGF was married to Elizabeth Fawcatt in Aysgarth in 1799, he was born in Buttersett, so the area seems to fit. He was a carpenter.
Is it possible for you to check if this is a link ? It would be amazing to get further back
Many Thanks

John Dinsdale was born c 1779 and was buried at Aysgarth April 25th 1855 aged 76.

He married Elizabeth (Betty) Fawcett April 3rd 1799 at Aysgarth and they had 8 children, all at Thoralby, where he was a carpenter.

John Dinsdale born c 1779 was the son of Thomas Dinsdale and Grace (Atkinson) who married Jan 27nd 1778 at Hawes.

This John Dinsdale was the son of John Dinsdale and Elizabeth (Spensley) who married at Hawes Oct 9th 1746

This John Dinsdale was the son of James Dinsdale and Mary (Bowfield) who married Nov 26th 1722 at Hawes.

James Dinsdale was the son of Thomas Dinsdale.

Elizabeth (Betty) Fawcett was bap March 20th 1779 at Thoralby and was buried July 29th 1845 at Aysgarth aged 66.

She was the dau of John Fawcett and Margaret (Peggy) Dinsdale who married Feb 23rd 1778 at Aysgarth and had 11 children.

John Fawcett was the son of William Fawcett and Elizabeth (Wilson) who married July 18th 1743 at Aysgarth.

This Elizabeth Wilson born c 1722 at High Gill Farm was the dau of my gggg grandfather, Humphrey Wilson, bap March 28th 1680 at Carperby.

The Wilson family moved to High Gill Farm c 1720 and farmed there without a break until the 1950's.

If you need any more on these families, then please let me know.
