Learning Zone

Hi all, have recently been looking at www.askaboutireland.ie site and clicking on the 'Learning Zone' tab and  have found some excellent articles on Sligo.  It is aimed at school children but  don't dismiss it as the resources are amazing.   For example,  If you search for 'History of Sligo by W.G. Wood-Martin' it brings up 3 pdf files of the original book which you can download for free.  I've been browsing the third volume 1688 - 1892, there are numerous names mentioned and it really sets the scene for Sligo during that time which includes the famine years.   Great appendixes including a list of all the Townlands and their 'English' translations and a colour map and various other images.   There are pages and pages of resources all freely available.  Have fun!
