(COMPLETED) W T....Henry TRAILL Family Enigma
« on: Friday 28 September 12 23:58 BST (UK) »
Hi I would like to see if anyone can dig up anything on a Henry Traill. His name was written in a family memories book of my Aunts yet we have no information other than his name. He would we believe be born in the late 1800's somewhere possibly Australia possibly in Victoria. There are no records in NSW Bdm's. His name occurs along with others from the Melbourne area. ???

Any help would be appreciated. ;)

Neil

I thought I found him in Victoria electoral registers 1931 but it was a transcription error. Henry TRAIT on the image. How sure are you of the spelling?

Is there anything else other than his name that might help?

Neil as you have no further info, what leads you to be believe he was born Victoria?

Is it possible that Henry was not his first given name.

There is a Wm Henry appearing in later electoral rolls in Qld also with occupation labourer - he died in 1950.

Cheers :)

Having problems with NAA website

Harry was the son of Mrs E J TRAILL of Bayswater, WA.  His occupation listed as shop assistant.

Hi and thanks for the contributions. I have no idea why his name id listed in this very old family history book. All the others in it have a direct link?

The only reason I say Victoria is that is where most of the others were born or immigrated to on this side of the family. I believe the book belonged originally to my Great Grandmother Louisa Messenger, herself enough of an enigma and the centre subject of one the longest posts on this forum.

I dont believe the Harry Traill from Western Australia is connected, saw service in WW1. Nor the Henry from Nothumberland to Tasmania. However his son Henry King Traill may have some connection? I dont know of any connection to Qld with this branch of the family.

There could be a connection however tenuously to the Goulburn, Queenbeyan area but dont ask me why as it is a very long tail and is more family lore and supposition than fact.

Thanks Neil
