Sounds like these folk might be off the Traill family, Orkney landowners & Edinburgh lawyers.
Website
http://www.cursiter.com  might help.
The Traill's were not universally popular I might add.

Thanks Skoosh, I have little to no idea about the Orkney's other than location, seems you may have a much better idea. Popular? Unpopular? Can you fill us in please.

Neil, the Traill's had several estates in Orkney, Google "Traill, Orkney landowners" for info'.
If you can establish a link to these folk you should find a ready made pedigree as they were prominent in the islands for over 500 years.
Some of my ancestors were evicted (re-located) by the Traill laird of North Ronaldsay in the 1840's, post the famine, so I might be a bit biased.

Bests,

Skoosh.

Hi Skoosh and thanks for that! I have no idea what if any, my family has with the Traill name, but just would like to establish if there is anything more than a name in an old family memories book. I have all the pedigrees I need at the moment thanks and have traced my lot back to the mid 1200's in Durham England.

In fact the entry relates to the maternal side and is extremely tenous at best. Maybe I am just trying to dot too many eyes.

They have an interesting background though.

Cheers Neil

Hey thats no problem Sarra, thanks for the input. Also thanks Dorliz, very interesting, do you perhaps have a link?
I might see if I can find some further background on him, perhaps he had been in Australia?

I am unsure how to put a link in these posts but if you just Google Trove and click on the Australian Newspapers
you will see the articles,  there are several for Henry Traill and further down you will see articles for a William
Henry Traill who was also a journalist and who died in Queensland in 1902.  A few Traill's mentioned as you will see.
