Hi Neil,

I have come across the name 'Traill' in my research.  They were mostly from the Sale area of Victoria.

Actually they are connected to the Alexander Groat Traill, mentioned on the First Families 2001, which Cando has given you the link to.

It's connected to my son-in-law's family history.

Wouldn't it be strange if there were some connection, in that family history book of your aunts.

There's the Rub :o Nothing ??? His name just appears in this family book no date, although in nice script writing, not my Aunts though.

My brother now has it I handed it onto him as the eldest along with a few other early treasures.

We have gone over all other avenues and cannot tie him directly to anyone. I just dont know why HIS name is in this book.

There are many TRAILL burials at SALE Cemetery, but the only HENRY is an infant HENRY JAMES TRAILL died  1888 aged 3 months.

Not wanting to mislead anyone his name could as Cando suggest be William Henry but my lot may have only known him as Henry?

Thanks to all for the info so far, it may lead to the conclusion of a long standing mystery.

Neil

Also I cannot seem to find any mention of any traill's on first families it just comes up page not found

I could be reaching a very looooong way here but William Henry Traill's occupation was a Mariner prior his farming exploits in Tassie. Somewhere in the shadows of our family, tall tales and true was a mention of a mariner.

So I have emailed the web depositer of this tree to see if he can shed any light on this family and any possible connections to mine? :P

We shall see. :o

Thanks Cando that did open correctly and Muss for the original and Sarra for the information and JC and Sue. ;D
