Martha Mallinson death
« on: Saturday 29 September 12 21:43 BST (UK) »
I have a question, I have a record of a Martha Mallinson who died in 1867 (B 1812 Bradford, West Yorkshire )) A Martha married  a Sharp Mallinson, (B 1814 Bradford,West Yorkshire ) I also have a record of his marriage to Harriet Burrows in July 1867,by then he was a widow. Do you think he would have married so quick after the death of his first wife?? ???

Anything is possible but in Victorian times I think it was "respectful to wait a year, six months at the least.  However if there were a lot of youngish children about, I have noticed quite a few men remarrying within about four months.
Of course, if the couple were not living together, he may have been waiting for his wife's death before he remarried!

thank you for that, think there were quite a few children as when I look at the later census they are down as second wife's children!!
