Francis Philip Amy
« on: Monday 01 October 12 00:45 BST (UK) »
Hello

Can anyone help me please?

My 4th Gr Grandfather was Francis Philip Amy, born around 1808, probably in Jersey.  He married Amelia Jane Simmonds - but I don't know where.  Amelia Jane Simmonds was from Portsea, Hampshire.  I have Francis and Amelia on Census 1841 - 1861.  Francis was a fisherman.  As far as my records go, from Census and other family trees, they had 6 children:  Jane born abt 1829,  Francis born abt 1832,  George born abt 1834,  John George (my 3rd Gr Grandfather) born abt 1836,  James born abt 1838 and Esther born abt 1840.

John George went to Australia around 1855.

I would be very grateful is someone out there could help me with my research and maybe find parents for Francis Philip and maybe a marriage.  I would estimate the marriage to be around 1827-1828 if Jane was born in 1829.

Thanks for reading   :)

Have you noticed 1841 census -living 2 doors away from Francis and Amelia and family are:
Phillip Amy 69 ind yes
Francis 20 seaman yes
Jane 20 yes

wondered if maybe Phillip age 69 was Francis Philip's father and maybe Francis age 20 was Francis Philip's son???

Hello Suz

Thanks for your reply.  I have wondered the same about Philip Amy living 2 doors away from Francis Philip.  That's why I would like to find out about any Baptism and Marriages for Francis Philip.  Amy is such a common name and they all had the same names in each family which is hard to work out who belongs to who.

Thanks again
Viv
