Thomas Wenham born Hastings
« on: Saturday 28 May 05 15:48 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for a 4xgreat grandma's brother, Thomas Wenham, son of Richard and Sarah Wenham, born 1806 in Hastings and said to have become a sea captain.  Can anyone tell me what became of him?

I'm also looking for Grandma Eliza's younger sister Mary Ann born 1822 in Hastings who was in Surrey in the 1830s and presumably married there.

Thank you, Laverdiere

Thomas Wenham appears on the 1861 census, living in Swansea, with his wife Jane, b.1807, who was born in Edinburgh.

There is also a visitor in the house, Jane Bernard, b. 1836, who is a captain's widow and a servant, Amelia Vircoe, b. 1801.

Thomas is a Master Mariner on Foreign Service. They are living in Bond Street, Swansea.

This is the last time he appears on the census - maybe he dies before 1871 or is at sea?

I hope this helps!

Sarah

Thanks, Sarah.  It's funny I can't find him in the 1861 census on Ancestry.
