Artifis

Now I am properly confused ???  What about yourself Steve ???

I obtained my information information from the FreeBDM and likely the English Census records 2 or 3 years ago but not quite certain where now.

Back to your earlier posts Steve and the 1851 Census.  Thomas Green with Richard Green (Born 1832) with sibling Lydia Ann Green (Baptised 1835) .. who is the mother of the children?  Maybe there is no mother recorded in the 1851 Census because Hannah Green died or was buried on 15.07.1838.

Now moving forward and on 26.07.1857 a marriage is recorded at Wotton between Thomas Green (aged 50) and Emma Hall (aged 38).  How does this fit in the 1861 Census?

Would this be the father of Richard Green and Lydia Ann Green?  To me it seems very likely?  Emma Green would be a step mother to these two.

Did Thomas have any more children with Hannah Green?  Nothing seems to be nothing recorded.

Did Thomas and Emma go on to have other children?  I don't know.

It seems that I will have to go back to the Ancestry.Com and check the Census records at my local library and attempt to trace the above senario's. ???

Hey do appreciate the assistance every body.

Alex G :)

P.S I do not believe that Richard and Harriet Green were working at Blenheim Palace prior to emigration to New Zealand in 1874.  They were employed in the Glove making industry per the 1871 Census.

Lydia ANN Green, baptised 1835 @ Wootton, to Thomas(labourer), & Rosanna Green. 'of Old Woodstock.

Richard Green(1832. Wootton) was born to Thomas & HANNAH Green

===========================================================================

'Now moving forward and on 26.07.1857 a marriage is recorded at Wotton between Thomas Green (aged 50) and Emma Hall (aged 38).  How does this fit in the 1861 Census?'  Fits in 1871.   No 1861 census available.

They were not working at Blenheim Palace, but in Woodstock.    There are a lot of people working as Glovers in the area.    This was not a Blenheim Palace industry. ;D

There may have been ag. labs of somesort working at Blenheim Palace(or not), in the Green family, but the money was in making leather gloves. :)

I think you should read this thread from start to finish again. ;D ;D..

There were other children to Thomas & Hannah, I'll have a peek later on.

These are the Green baptisms I've found.   I think I've given most of these.

All @ Wootton.

1831 - William, son of Thomas & Rosanna.
1832 - Richard, son of Thomas & Hannah. (of Old Woodstock).
1835 - Lydia Ann, daughter of Thomas & Rosanna. (of Old Woodstock).
1837 - William, son of Thomas & Hannah. (of Old Woodstock)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

These are Green baptisms I've found at WOODSTOCK

1832 - Ann, to William & Frances Green. (of Old Woodstock). Glover.
1834 - William, to William & Frances. (of Old Woodstock).

Marriage - William Green to Frances Gomm.  28 May 1831 @ WOOTTON.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The crossover between Wootton and Woodstock is most annoying. ;D ;D

Hi Alex,

I have just seen this correspondence on the Greens (Richard & Harriet(t)).. I too am a NZ'r and related to the Greens in Queenstown (via Annie.... married John DC Sutherland). I am currently on holiday in the UK, and have been to Woodstock.. museum (a good little area on the gloving industry there), and had a look at Union st!!
Shipping records have Richard down as
Glover, Farm labourer, Sexton, Agricultural labourer, fellmonger,Labourer.

I realise correspondence has finished, but thought i would make contact!

Kia Ora Ralph

Invercargill this way.  I was in the UK a little over 12 months ago and visited Wootton and Blenheim Palace.  Didn't quite make Woodstock unfortunately.

I descend from Harriet who married James Glennie of Balfour in Southland.

Our great great grandfather Richard Green was a man of many talents it seems.  I am certain of one thing however there is no record of him or Harriet or any member of their family working at Blenheim Palace which is contary to what  has been commonly believed by many descendants.

The passenger manifest for the Wild Deer the vessel that brought the family out to NZ in 1875 recorded Richard as a agricultural worker but the 1871 census had him recorded as a glover.

I have gathered substantial qualities of information on the Green family and their descendants in NZ, a little less so on Annie and John David Sutherland but currently talking with Sutherland descendants in Southland another family in Dunedin (when they get back from Australia).

Haven't managed to locate any descendants of Frederick Green and Isabella Green nee Noble his wife and family.

A couple of the Green children .. Albion and Ellen fetched up in the USA which makes for a very interesting story.

Currently corresponding with great grand children of Minnnie Haines nee Green who reside in Auckland.  Minnie's grand daughter resides in Winton near Invercargill and I visited her last weekend.

Have photographs for 4 of the 8 Green children .. Emily, Harriet, Frederick and Emily.

Happy to exchange any information and photographs.  What do you have?

Alex G :)

Will PM you my e mail address and home details.

I know this is an old chain, but I have recently discovered links to a Green family of Woodstock. How much further have you gotten back?

Greetings dmel

Thank you for making contact.

Back to the late 1700's and early 1800's depending on the branch of the family.  William Green born 26.12.1750 his wife Martha Wilks born 02.02.1778 .. Thomas Green (born c.1800) father of Richard Green born 25.11.1832.  On and on it goes.

Always looking for information to update records and happy to share anything that I have.

Would be interested in hearing further on the Green family records that you have discovered.

Best regards
