J S WOODRUFFE
« on: Monday 08 October 12 11:29 BST (UK) »
Hello, i have a watercolour painting signed by a J S Woodruffe,I think it was in my grandparents house in the 1970;s

I am trying to find out who this may be and if he did other paintings. I see there is a John Sheldon Woodruffe born 1878 and served in a Sussex regiment.

Has anyone else come across this name before?

Many thanks   Tim

J.S Woodruffe was a Major in the Royal Sussex Regiment. Born in Hastings in 1879 and died in the town in 1958. I am trying to find out more about him from his secondment as a Lt-Col with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Jan-Jun 1918 but not having much luck at the present time.
