Hi Kerry, I descend from a Thomas Agate born in 1704 of Cowfold, he is the man who said he was the father of my ancestor John Walder in 1771 and was in that above mentioned bastardy bond. Thomas was a married farmer, and he died in 1794. I have not yet found out who his wife was or his children, could be the 1745 Thomas may have been a son or nephew.

That is what I wonder too.  Despite searching again, I still haven't been able to find a baptism for Thomas Agate who married Ann Miles, she was baptised in 1757.  They may well be linked to the Thomas Agate who fathered John Walder, one day maybe I will crack this one.
