Wingate
« on: Sunday 04 July 04 05:10 BST (UK) »
Hi there,
I am searching for a Sophia Wingate born Chichester, Dorset approx 1810.
Would any one know of maybe the name of church for that area, or any connections and of name variations.
I just cannot find anything on this lady, only on the 1881 census. I have search everywhere for a marriage record, even though I know she married a George Taylor who was a Mariner and born in Eastbourne Sussex.
Anything would be a great help,
Thanking you.
Pat.       :)  ???
My best wishes,
Pat.

Thank you Catherine,
That is very much appreciated, I don't know if she is mine though. Would you know the registration district for Selsey? I wonder if it could be Chichester.
It is a big chance it being the right one, thank you again.
My best wishes.
Pat.

Oh! what a question to ask me, bottom of the class in geography, my worst subject. Well had a look online and Selsey is in the diocese of Chichester.

There is a church on Selsey called St. Peters I have found while I was looking for you.

Have fun

Hi there Catherine,
Thank you for that look up, it is great and the church is only 7 miles from Chichester.
I think there is a big possibility she is mine, I will have to try and find them on early census records and hopefully it will be listed as place of birth.
Thank you so much for you kindness, I really appreciate it. I think it is lovely how people help each other.
Thank you and good hunting with your own research.
My best wishes.
Pat.   ;D
My best wishes,
Pat.

Hi! Pat

Thank you for such a kind message, it is most appreciated.
Good luck with your search.

I have located a living one of my Rustidge family, and they are going to help, think we have found a link. Great when something like this happens.

is it possible sophia had been married before??maybe wingate was her previous married name not her maiden name.
any idea when they might have married?
any clues would be of help in locating her.
